New IRS Small Business Workshop Available Online
The new Virtual Small Business Tax Workshop is now available online. It consists of nine interactive lessons designed to help new small business owners learn their tax rights and responsibilities. The workshop will also be available on CD in January 2010. Click here to preorder the CD.
2009 Small Business Survival Index
On December 1, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) released its 14th annual ranking of the states according to their public policy climates for small business and entrepreneurship. The top ten entrepreneur-friendly states are 1) South Dakota, 2) Nevada, 3) Texas, 4) Wyoming, 5) Washington, 6) Florida, 7) South Carolina, 8) Colorado, 9) Alabama, and 10) Virginia. Alaska ranked 12th, just outside the top ten.

Green Gazelles in Rural Alaska? If you are an entrepreneur working in remote rural Alaska, you might be eligible to participate in an action research project that seeks to create a framework for success in sustainability entrepreneurship in the state - businesses that advance the transition to a clean technology economy powered by renewable energy.
